Yes, my hair IS Natural. No, that doesn’t mean I can’t STRAIGHTEN it when I want. No, that doesn’t mean I’m ‘self-hating’ & NO I’m no LESS Black. No, that doesn’t mean I have to wear a kente cloth and make a PILGRIMAGE back to ‘the motherland.’ It’s funny, for all the molds people are ‘breaking’ by going Natural they continue to BOX themselves in with all these Natural hair rules & REGULATIONS, cliques & clubs. Going Natural wasn’t a statement of BLACKNESS for me. It was a long overdue declaration of self-love I had never made & a pledge to myself to like & live in what God gave me. No apologies. No inhibitions. There are no rules.
